Edinburgh, Tips To Travel Low Cost
Hints to explore the city in a cheaper way
- It is advisable to buy a round-trip train ticket during the day rather than two separate tickets. For example, one way train from Edinburgh to Stirling costs 9.40 pounds, while the return ticket costs 9.90 pounds (only 50 pounds more!).
- Even the bus ticket from airport to central Edinburgh is cheaper if you go back and forth rather than buying two individual tickets.
- If you want to taste the typical specialties at a modest price, we recommend going to the Wetherspoon, a series of pubs scattered around the city.
If you wish there is also the application that allows you to order directly from the table.
- Check out the TESCO supermarkets where you can find some tasty typical food to take back home and let your loved ones taste.
- After visiting Stirling Castle, explore the cemetery below and there you will find nice and very sweet volunteers who will tell you some interesting facts about the tombs.
- The daily ticket costs 4 pounds, the one for a single run 1.70.
- The water on the premises is free and is very good
- In the train station there is a fountain where you can top up your water bottles for free (LINK BORRACCIA)
- Admission to most museums is free
- As far as the toilets are concerned, they are available in several parts of the city for free (stations, museums...)
- Free walking Tour
